(Modern methods for assessing dehydration in athletes)

One of the main problems of optimizing sports nutrition is the provision of water-salt balance. Currently, the ways of entering and removing water from the body of athletes in sports activities have undergone significant changes and require a serious reassessment. This is due to the recent changes in the methodology of training processes, energy expenditure and psychoemotional loads during classes in various sports. Over the past 15 years, numerous scientific articles have widely analyzed the effect of weight loss as a result of physical stress on the endurance and physiological functions of the body. Individual assessment of the state of hydration of the body is necessary to optimize the performance indicators of athletes, as a negative effect of dehydration on the functional state, recovery after exercise and health. In the article the review of methods of an estimation of hydration of an organism of sportsmen, biomarkers in blood, a saliva and urine is presented. The conclusion is made that there is a lack of accuracy and comparability of the indices of most existing methods and the need for additional studies in this field.
